International symposium Particle Foam 2009 in Aachen
The association of German engineers "Verband deutscher Ingenieure" (VDI) invites to the international conference Particle Foam 2009 from May 6th to 7th of 2009 in Aachen.

Particle Foam is considered as the symposium around particle foams. This year, sight shall be set on sustainable strategies and long-term developments. High-ranking agents from notable businesses and associations like BASF, Hirsch engineering or British Plastics Federation not only help to get an overview of the current situation in the market of EPS and EPP, they also examine the future of particle foams carefully.

A focal point of the symposium is the matter of energy. Though the price for energy has levelled out in times of financial and market crisis, one question remains unanswered: How can energy be applied still more efficiently in pre-foaming and converting - and how can costs hence be saved in the long term?

Another subject is the chance of innovative coatings as well as materials when opening up new areas of application. To this topic, the EPP forum pipes up, too. Graduate engineer Christian Traßl, executive director of the EPP forum, gives a lecture on "Innovative coating of surfaces of EPP moldings" (Thursday, May 7th of 2009). Traßl, managing the department "plastics" of Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH, addresses the issue of definition and measurement of surface energy and explains the particularities of varnishing polyolefins. Likewise, he informs about functional coatings and presents the EPP lacquering without pre-treatment.

Mainly internationally operating businesses attend Particle Foam 2009, which offers besides an exceedingly informative lecture programme also a perfect platform to swap ideas on the subject of EPP and to expand the network of particle frothers. Certainly an advantage for the region Upper Franconia and the members of the EPP forum.
