MATERIALICA is the European top event for innovative materials applications, surface technology and product engineering. Just as in the previous years, the trade show is taking place simultaneously with eCarTec in Munich, this year between October 21st and 23rd. In cooperation with MunichExpo, EPP Forum is organising the "Design Tag" (Design Day) on October 21st.
Christian Traßl, member of the jury for the MATERIALICA Award 2014 The "Design Tag" is dedicated to modern design solutions with innovative materials. On the same day at 9am, MATERIALICA and eCarTec will open their doors for visitors. Starting at 10am, EPP Forum is presenting an expert workshop covering the topic "Industrial Design with EPP". Expert speakers will inform attendants about EPP's numerous fields of application as a diversely mouldable and usable all-round material.

Another highlight of the "Design Tag" at MATERIALICA will be the presentation of the MATERIALICA Design + Technology Award. This award celebrates outstanding achievements in design innovation and intelligent material development as well as modern and effective manufacturing processes. As such, it has been established as a respected design award. This year, Dipl.-Ing. Christian Traßl, General Manager EPP Forum, is a member of the jury. Together with five other jurors, he will judge the submitted ideas and projects. "With Mr. Traßl, we were able to get a renowned material expert on board of our jury - an expert who is perfectly able to gauge and judge MATERIALICA's theme 'Lightweight Design for New Mobility' in the context of our award", said Robert Metzger, Managing Director MunichExpo Veranstaltungs GmbH, when asked about the choice to appoint Christian Traßl to the jury.

Up until July 13th 2014, designers, companies and project groups are invited to submit their ideas for product, design and technology developments. Entries will be judged in four categories: "Material", "Surface & Technologies", "Product" and "CO2 Efficiency". On October 21st, the following awards will be given out: "Best of", "Gold", "Silver" and "Best Newcomer". The winners may present their products during the whole trade show at the MATERIALICA Design Show. Students and graduates specializing in product and industrial design, engineering, mechanical engineering, natural sciences and related fields can submit their work in the special "Student" category. Individual and group projects will compete for the Student Award endowed with 1.500 Euro. Of course we at EPP Forum are looking forward to exciting submissions in the field of particle foams, especially those dealing with our material EPP.

The "Design Tag" will end with the "Night of eMotion" - an opportunity for exhibitors, visitors and workshop participants to get to know each other better and to celebrate the start of the trade show in a relaxed atmosphere.

You can find more details about our expert workshop on October 21st on our website in the near future. We are already looking forward to an inspiring exchange of know-how and experience - and to stimulating discussions about the design potential of EPP.
