The EPP forum, which is located in Bayreuth/Upper Franconia, is a federation of several renowned companies of the domains raw material, engine construction, manufacture and research/development.
Founded in June 2006 within the campaign "Innovative Networks", the association campaigns for the universal substance EPP (Expanded polypropylene): The EPP forum wants to increase the degree of popularity of EPP and make its varied applications public.
The association, which 16 German as well as European businesses belonged to in 2008, facilitates the access to product and process innovations by dint of cross-company networks. Now, in 2019, eleven members and seven sponsoring members belong to the EPP forum.
The EPP forum furthers the transfer of knowledge around the particle foams among businesses and research institutes. It supports research in the areas EPP products and manufacturing techniques. At the same time, the EPP forum speaks for the implementation of the substance in industrial sectors which have not taken EPP into consideration for themselves yet.
The idea behind the forum is to create a platform which covers the whole value-added chain of the product.
Executive chairman of the EPP forum is graduate engineer Walter Kurtz. The entrepreneurship of the association resides with graduate engineer Christian Traßl, staff member of Kompetenzzentrum Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH.
